Sandra Lynn began as a Technical Illustrator at the age of 19 and continued her career for over 25 years. She recently started working with fine art full time while caring for her 92 year-old father.Sandra works mainly in watercolors, pastels, and acrylics. “I have always loved art, focusing mostly on representational pieces. My images include flowers, rusty metal, and lots of bright colors. I love to paint things that make people feel happy and touch my soul. I also love period pieces and find inspiration in works of the Masters such as Caravaggio and Rubens. With an illustration background, my paintings tend to be very tightly rendered. After trying to force myself to loosen up, I gave up. But then I realized tight isn't so bad after all. Trompe l'oeil can be really fun to do. I love the challenge of making things pop off the page. I love to experiment and learn new techniques. My work shows a variety of styles and subject matter, which keeps me fresh”. Sandra Lynn freelances in illustration, graphic/web design, and costume design. She also does commissioned work, including portraits and large murals, working from reference photographs. Large pieces are not a problem. Sandra Lynn started the Modesto Art Co-op in 2009. With an online gallery, it gives local artists a way to promote themselves, using local businesses as venues to hang their art. The venues receive a rotating art show, thus increasing interest for their customers and bringing art to the community, which otherwise may never venture into a gallery. Sandra Lynn was a featured artist in the Modesto Bee in February of 2009. |
