Dino Bed

I met this customer through my chiropractor's office. She loved the Noah's Ark I did and wanted to give her son something nice for his birthday and he loved dinosaurs.

I used a piece of thick plywood to create a headboard for his bed. I pieced together different images to create the layout and transfered it to the wood.

With this painting I also used a grisaille underpainting. But this time instead of using sepia, I first painted the wood blue, then underpainted with a dark purple. The purple underpainting worked really well with all of the greens in the painting. The blank area at the bottom gets hidden by the mattress.

Her son was overjoyed with his gift.
