Etched Glass Door

Project Info:

A customer needed a door to separate their formal living room from the rest of the house. We decided on a glass door to keep the family room from being to dark. I etched a design so as to give more privacy but still let the light through.

I masked off the entire door and proceeded to draw the design. The project took several days as all of the areas to be etched had to be cut out and the masking removed. I took the door outside to etch the glass. I used an etching cream that only takes 15 minutes to work. So I painted the areas that I wanted etched the heaviest first. I love the variations I achieved in the etching. It give the image an atmospheric feel.

The customer was very pleased with my work. I hadn't worked with glass in a long time.
